  17. <p>    Should works of art carry a government health warning? A
  18. piece being displayed at New York City's New Museum of
  19. Contemporary Art could have used such a caveat. When Eclipse of
  20. the Earth by Kazuo Katase was installed last month, the work's
  21. dusty red coloring agent contained zinc sulfide and barium
  22. sulfate. The chemicals caused severe respiratory and skin
  23. problems for some employees, they claim. A staff memo admitted
  24. that "ingestion of the pigment will cause illness, and the
  25. inhalation of the dust is known to cause lung irritation."
  26. Although the powder was replaced 12 days later, three workers
  27. resigned and a fourth entered the hospital for treatment.
